Arrived in Hanoi around midnight to find that the hotel that we briefly corresponded with had a sign (Mr. Joseph Dort) and a cab waiting for us. We were wisked away to Hanoi through a maze of back alleys and side roads. Our hotel is buried in Hanoi's Old Quarter and the building is only about 10 feet wide and eight stories high. It is an old colonial era building that has been remodelled and given a modern look (A/C, breakfast, shower shoes and a flat-screen tv for $22 US a night). Walking out on to the street during the day however, reveals that we are right in the middle of a local market complete with grilled scorpion and still writhing magot-like insects for sale (reasonably priced). Today we venture out into the streets of Hanoi.
Looks like photo upload may work on this computer so there will likely be photos later.
Bye for now.
